Since Latin American and Ballroom dancing became universally recognised as a sport, its popularity has increased. People are now aware of the numerous benefits gained by dancing – rhythmical exercise, control and co-ordination, mental stimulation, musical appreciation, relaxation, mixing with people and generally having fun.
Danceworx is reputed for its excellent selection of top dance music – the essential component which incites people to dance.
The majority of people attending the Studio do so for recreation and social interaction.

Ballroom
Waltz is a smooth progressive dance characterized by long, flowing movements, continuous turns, and rise & fall. Graceful and elegant, Waltz dancers glide around the floor almost effortlessly.
Foxtrot is a simple combination of walks and chasses ideal for social dancing. It is full of rhythm, danced to standard rock n roll music from the 50’s and onwards, an ideal non-energetic dance that allows the dancers to socialise while dancing the foxtrot.
Quickstep is a quick version of the Foxtrot. It is a ballroom dance comprised of extremely quick stepping, syncopated feet rhythms, and runs of quick steps. The Quickstep is exciting to watch, but among the most difficult of all the ballroom dances.
Latin American
Cha Cha originated in Cuba in the 1940s. Cha Cha is a vibrant, flamboyant and playful dance. The light and bubbly feel of the Cha Cha gives it a unique sense of fun for dancers
Rumba originated in Cuba in the 1920s and is a very slow, serious, romantic latin American dance. The Rumba is a dance that tells a story of love and passion between a strong, male lover and a coy, teasing woman.
Mambo originally from Cuba is a flirtacious, sensual dance with a high energy level and infectious rhythm.
Samba was developed in Brazil during the 19th century and is considered the dance of celebration and joy at Carnival celebrations in Rio. Lively and rhythmical the major action of Samba, the "Samba Bounce Action," gives the dance its unique look and feel.
Jive is one of the five International Latin dances. A lively, and uninhibited variation of Jitterbug, many of its basic patterns are similar to those of East Coast Swing.
